Jumaane Smith Explores Louis! Louis! Louis! at the CCPA on Sat., January 6, 8:00 PM

CERRITOS, CA – Join Jazz trumpeter-vocalist-composer JUMAANE SMITH as he celebrates the origins of Jump Blues and Jazz in LOUIS! LOUIS! LOUIS! Enjoy Smith’s thrilling renditions of timeless classics from his biggest influences – Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, and Louis Jordan – along with his own compositions at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) on Sat., January 6, 8:00 PM. Tickets start at $45 for this Director’s Pick concert.

A featured soloist for Michael Bublé, Smith has performed on five Grammy-winning records, two Emmy-nominated television performances, and in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story. Smith has also appeared on Today; Oprah; Good Morning, America; Saturday Night Live; and American Idol.

A member of Harry Connick Jr.’s house band for the syndicated daytime televised show Harry, Smith was the featured guest soloist, backed by a 60-piece symphony orchestra, for Jackie Evancho’s Songs of the Silver Screen world tour. Also a composer, Smith has scored music for the film Handsome Harry, starring Steve Buscemi and Jamey Sheridan, and the documentary Being in the World

Smith studied under Wynton Marsalis at Juilliard and has worked with musical legends Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Christian McBride, and Barbra Streisand. Smith’s critically-acclaimed debut album, I Only Have Eyes for You, features special guests Bublé, Evancho, and Naturally 7. His sophomore album, When You’re Smiling, was released to acclaim in 2020.
